The horror sequel Paranormal Activity 4 opened in first place, earning an estimated 30.2 million dollars.

Taken 2, which was number one the previous two weekends, tumbled to the fourth spot, with 13.4 million.

The weekend's other wide release, Alex Cross, was a disappointment. The thriller, starring Tyler Perry in the titular role, debuted in fifth place, collecting 11.8 million dollars.
